I know Lance from high school, but I haven’t seen him in years. I was heartbroken to hear what happened. I’d like to make a contribution and send he and his wife my best wishes, but I can’t seem to find a way to do that from up here in Northern CA. Anyone have an idea?

I don’t really know Carla … I have only spoken with her a few times as an occasional Metro comics customer, but her enthusiasm and engaging personality always shone through … even during these routine encounters. While I’m not the sort that generally takes the extra step to get involved in “causes” because of (insert list of lame and self-deluding excuses here), I have found myself inexplicably moved by the tragedy that has struck this couple. I would therefore like to offer two comic-related items for your benefit auction to help in any small way possible: the first is a signed pencil head-sketch (female) by Terry Moore (of Strangers in Paradise and Echo fame), and the second is a preliminary sketch of four collectible plate designs by (and signed by) the renowned Alex Ross; two of the designs feature Plastic Man while the other two are of Captain Marvel and the Marvel Family. While I’m a big Plastic Man fan, if this sketch can bring in at auction about what I paid for it (directly from Alex Ross at a convention), I think I would enjoy it more knowing that it helped (in a very small way) someone in need. If you are interested, it would be convenient for me to drop them off at Metro Comics … if necessary, I can also provide scans of the items.
